“Cases of resistant heart failure can be improved slightly with weekly dobutamine infusion. For better results, left or right hear assist devices can also be used but they are very expensive,” says Dr. SC Manchanda “If ejection fraction is low, use of an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) to prevent sudden death and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) to improve the heart function is recommended.” “Cardiac transplant is usually the last resort, but there’s a long waiting list all over the world. There is some progression in the making of an artificial heart as well.”
