Pre-discharge tests for STEMI patients

Pre-discharge stress test measures success of thrombolysis

Dr. S Ramakrishnan

Additional Professor, Department of. Cardiology, AIIMS

AIIMS Organizing Secretary,Cardiac Prevent 2015

“If the patient did not get the angiogram and a revascularization, he should have a pre-discharge stress test,” Dr S Ramakrishnan says. “A stress test also helps find out whether thrombolysis was successful,” he adds. “Pre-discharge tests are not needed for patients who have undergone a revascularization procedure. Routine control of blood pressure and sugar should do. The ejection fraction at discharge must hold for a few years and a good dose of statin keeps lipid profile in check.”
