Postural hypertension is a medical condition characterised by a sudden increase in blood pressure when a person stands up. Though autonomic dysfunction (breakdown of involuntary activities) is likely to show, a number of patients exhibit the same, making ita poor prognosticator. The degree of blood pressure control needs to be optimized in situations leading to postural hypertension, says Dr. Shashank Joshi. He also suggests drugslikelyfludrocortisone for treatment.“We still need more and more tools to pick up responders and non-responders. But there will be a day when, just by giving point 0.1 mL of blood, it will be possible to identify who will and who won’t get postural hypotension”
