Having the second largest population in the world is not the only reason behind the ever-increasing incidence of heart diseases in India. The fast food culture takes most of the blame- especially the colas, which are nothing but sugar bombs containing 13 teaspoons full of sugar. They’re probably worse than cigarettes, according to a recent declaration made by WHO, which equates sugar to tobacco. Our indigenous papads, pickles and chutneys are no less. Loads of invisible salt contained in them not only makes us the salt capital of the world but also the capital of hypertension and diabetes.
